COMMON NICET CBT QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
--------------------------------------

Dear Mike,

I am struggling to figure out the application process for the NICET 1
test. I went on line and registered with NICET. When I went back to
their web site they asked me for a user name. Since all I have is a
password and no user name this is useless to me. So I printed off the
application and I see that an experience application package is
mentioned here. I remember you saying something about this at the
seminar. Can you tell me if this experience application package is
available on line?

When I choose a test window will NICET automatically know what test
facility is the nearest to me based on my address or do I need to tell
them? Is there a separate form for me to tell them?

As far as you know is there a technical support phone number at NICET
to help one thru this convoluted web site and process?

Any help you can give me would be much appreciated.

James A. Franklin

Hello James,

It is confusing. Until you have a 6-digit NICET ID number, there's
nothing you can do online.  NICET has split the process in two;
testing and certification.

To test, you'll have to download the test application here:
http://www.nicet.org/candidates/CBTTestPackage.pdf, fill it out, and
mail it in with your Level I test fee of $120
http://www.nicet.org/candidates/fees.cfm. You choose a window of time
on the form and then when NICET cashes your check, you will be able to
schedule your test at any Pearson/Vue test center that you want
http://www.pearsonvue.com/nicet/.

To apply for certification you will have to download the experience
application here:
http://www.nicet.org/candidates/CBTExperiencePackageFA.pdf, fill it
out, and mail it in with your Level I certification fee of $100 either
with your test application or later if you're in a hurry to test.
Once you pass the test a NICET evaluator will review your experience
form to determine whether you have the necessary work experience.

You can also download the instructions here:
http://www.nicet.org/candidates/applying_for_certification.pdf and you
can call NICET at 888-476-4238 or send an email message to
test@nicet.org. They've set up a FAQ page as well here:
http://nicet.org/asknicet.cfm.

Let me know whether I can provide additional information.

Good luck!

- Mike
