This three-day seminar covers NICET Level III/IV certification
training and continuing education requirements; fire alarm system
surveys and design; addressable and multiplex systems; system
reliability; principles of smoke movement in buildings;
principles of combustion; application of automatic fire alarm
devices and Appendix B application; transient protection; power
supplies, supplementary circuits, and much more.

Who Should Attend:

* Individuals preparing for NICET Level III/IV certification
testing

* Sales and service personnel 

Suggested prerequisite:

Five years of fire alarm experience and either a Professional
Engineer license, NICET Level II certificate, or have previously
attended the AFAA Intermediate Fire Alarm Seminar.

* NFPA Standard #101, The Life Safety Code, 2000 edition. 
* Student workbook and handout material

NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level II
33015 GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES
---------------------------------

33015 is a Level II General Non-Core Work element.

33015 DESCRIPTION
Know special fire alarm installation requirements of government
agencies such as DOD, VA, state, city, and others and their
relationship to national installation standards. Prepare shop
drawings for submittal to government authorities.

33015 REFERENCES:
VA specifications, state, city, and related documents

33015 DESCRIPTION BREAKDOWN:
"Know special fire alarm installation requirements of government
agencies such as DOD, VA, state, city, and others and their
relationship to national installation standards. Prepare shop
drawings for submittal to government authorities."

Veterans Administration (VA) requires photoelectric detectors,
base loop reporting, and compliance with the Buy American Act.

Government Services Administration (GSA) requires seven channel
voice.

Army Corp of Engineers requires PE (Professional Engineer) stamp
on drawings.

American Disabilities Act (ADA) applies to all buildings with
public access and all areas within buildings which the public has
access to. At this time, ADA requires no specific visible
notification appliance distribution pattern. A single requirement
of a minimum intensity of 75 candela in all areas, a minimum
flash rate of 1 flash per second, wall mount only, spacing such
that no point in any room is more than 50 feet from a visible notification appliance.

North Carolina Department of Insurance requires alarm
verification.
