NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level II
33014 INSURANCE AUTHORITIES AND THEIR REQUIREMENTS
--------------------------------------------------

33014 is a Level II General Non-Core Work element.

33014 DESCRIPTION
Understand special interpretative guides, data sheets, and other
requirements of Factory Mutual System, Industrial Risk Insurers, Kemper
Insurance Group, Insurance Services Office, etc. Prepare shop drawings
for submittal to insurance authority.

33014 REFERENCES:

33014 DESCRIPTION BREAKDOWN:

Factory Mutual (FM)

Consists of two groups: FMRC, research group, and FMI, insurance group

FMRC is the approval agency of FM that test equipment to FM standards
and is accepted as an industry standard by other insurance underwriters.

Allendale, Arkwright, and Protection Mutual Insurance own FMI. The
objective of FMI is to help policyholders protect their properties.

Industrial Risk Insurers (IRI)

- Insurance underwriter
- Requires UL(r) listed equipment
- Requires UL(r) certification of system
- Hazardous and high risk coverage
- Monitor sprinkler and suppression discharge
- Supervisory signals from the closure control valves 2 1/2" & larger
- Supervisory signals from dry pipe high and low air pressure
- Supervisory signals that monitor low temperature
- Monitor fire pump running, power availability, and phase reversal
